Florence - day one!

The long awaited trip to tour the gardens of Florence has arrived and so far it couldn't be better. The weather is stunning, the hotel room has a view of the Arno and the Ponte Vecchio, and the gardens are breathtaking. Yesterday we visited the first of our gardens, the Palazzo Corsini al Prato. We were greeted by the Principessa Georgiana (who turned up on a bicycle with a gorgeous green hat on), who showed us her beautiful formal Renaissance garden, all clipped box hedges and orange and lemon trees in pots, and aromatic herbs in between.

Lemon and orange trees flower and fruit at the same time and orange blossom smells heavenly!

And if that wasn't enough the gardeners all use the oldest methods and tools and have over 100 friendly tortoises to work around!
